Google Rolls Out Real-Time AI Video Features for Gemini

Google has started introducing real-time AI video capabilities for its Gemini assistant, with select Android users spotting new interface updates. A Xiaomi phone user recently noticed a “Share screen with Live” button, positioned above the existing “Ask about screen” option. This same user also accessed real-time camera features through the Gemini Live interface, as reported by 9to5Google.

Originally showcased as Project Astra, these AI-powered features offer two core functions. First, Gemini can analyze on-screen content and provide relevant insights. Second, it can process live camera feeds to assist with real-time tasks. For example, users may receive guidance in choosing paint colors for pottery, a scenario previously highlighted in Google’s promotional materials.

The rollout includes a compact fullscreen interface and a notification system similar to phone calls, but these elements remain limited in availability. While Google had announced that Pixel and Galaxy S25 users would be among the first to receive these capabilities, the latest updates suggest the features are gradually expanding to other devices.

As the rollout continues, Gemini’s AI-driven video interactions are expected to transform how users engage with their smartphones.
