Tata Group Seeks Additional 80 Acres for Dholera Chip Plant Expansion

Tata Group seeks 80 more acres in Dholera for chip plant expansion, including employee housing and facilities.

Tata Group has sought an additional 80 acres in Gujarat’s Dholera to expand its semiconductor chip plant, as per a Business Standard report. This comes on top of the 100 acres already allotted, along with 63 acres promised by the Gujarat government for future expansion.

The new land will primarily be used to build residential facilities for 4,000 employees, including studio apartments, a shopping complex, a sports arena, and other amenities. This move aims to create a self-sustaining ecosystem around India’s first semiconductor fabrication plant.

Approved under the India Semiconductor Mission, the Dholera plant is expected to commence operations by 2027. Tata Group is investing ₹91,000 crore in the project, with ₹15,710 crore allocated for the facility and infrastructure. This initiative strengthens India’s push for domestic semiconductor manufacturing under the Make in India campaign.
