RBI Wins Digital Transformation Award 2025 for ‘Sarthi’ and ‘Pravaah’ Initiatives

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has been honored with the Digital Transformation Award 2025 by Central Banking, UK, recognizing its efforts in leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and innovation. The announcement was made on March 14, 2025, in London, United Kingdom, through a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

According to RBI, the award was given in recognition of its in-house digital initiatives, ‘Pravaah’ and ‘Sarthi’, which have significantly improved operational processes within the central bank. These systems were designed to streamline internal and external workflows, reducing reliance on paper-based submissions and fostering a more efficient digital ecosystem.

The ‘Pravaah’ system is aimed at simplifying regulatory processes by enabling seamless online applications and approvals, reducing delays, and improving transparency in RBI’s operations. Meanwhile, the ‘Sarthi’ system serves as an advanced digital assistant, designed to provide guidance and support to stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication between the RBI and financial institutions.

The awards committee acknowledged how these digital innovations have played a key role in transforming RBI’s workflow, enhancing overall efficiency, and modernizing banking operations in India. By implementing these solutions, RBI has positioned itself as a leader in digital transformation among central banks globally.

This recognition highlights India’s growing influence in financial technology (FinTech) and digital governance, reinforcing its commitment to embracing technological advancements for better regulatory frameworks. As RBI continues to prioritize digital innovation, initiatives like ‘Pravaah’ and ‘Sarthi’ set a benchmark for other central banks aiming to adopt similar technology-driven solutions.
