Zoho Founder Sridhar Vembu Says AI Can Handle 90 Percent of Boilerplate Code but Human Creativity is Essential

Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu believes artificial intelligence will automate a large portion of coding, particularly the repetitive and structured tasks. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), he mentioned that AI could generate up to 90 percent of code since most of what developers write consists of “boilerplate” elements.

Vembu referenced The Mythical Man-Month, a well-known book on software engineering, to highlight the difference between two types of complexity in programming:

Accidental complexity – the routine, repetitive coding tasks that AI can efficiently manage.

Essential complexity – the core problem-solving and logic that require human creativity.

While AI is streamlining software development by eliminating redundant work, Vembu emphasized that developers remain crucial for tackling complex challenges and driving innovation.

As AI continues to reshape the industry, his insights reinforce that automation enhances efficiency, but human expertise remains irreplaceable.
